How Much Can Multiple Views Increase My Hiring Accuracy?

The combination of a personality and an ability assessment can tell you much more about a candidate while also increasing the validity and defensibility of your selection decisions. For example, adding a measure of conscientiousness (as measured by a personality assessment) can increase the validity of a selection program consisting of an ability-only assessment by up to 18% (Schmidt & Hunter, 1998). In addition, combining ability and personality can often reduce the impact of group differences that frequently result from cognitive ability assessments alone.
