Tax Exemption
Requesting tax exemption
Organizations requesting tax exemption status are required to submit their organization’s tax exemption certificate.
Tax Exemption submissions can be sent via email, fax or webform. Â
Tax exemption certificates requirements include:
- Certificate organization name should align with Pearson account name. The name on the exemption form must match the Pearson Account name used for delivery. If the name does not match, a letter explaining the relationship is required.
- A W9 is not acceptable for tax exemption, but may be used as back-up documentation to show a business name correlation: Example: Johnson Human Resources Group doing business as Johnson HR.
- Exemption certificate must have Pearson or NCS Pearson (not Pearson Education).
- Exemption state must match Pearson account shipping state.
- Exemption must be for assessments, software products, or services.
- Certificate must be signed.
Confirming tax exemption on a purchase
Currently, tax exemption status will not appear on Pearson website accounts. However, if tax exemption has been applied to your account you will see a zero dollar amount for taxes during the website checkout process. If full taxes show at the end of checkout, then tax exemption has not been applied to your account.
